cachapas 1One of the traditional dishes of the Venezuelan cuisine that you can enjoy on Margarita Island are cachapas, a kind of pancakes, made of sweet and tender ground corn.

It is cooked on a griddle or frying pan and you can eat it with white cheese, de mano or guayanés.

On the 31 de Julio Avenue, on the way to el Agua beach you can find some restaurants that offer you cachapas. We have visited Guayamurí restaurant located between Paraguachí and el Tirano.

Sugar dissolved in a water cup

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately the size of a medium size pancake. When the upper side of the cachapa is bubbling it is time to cook the second side. Serve hot with butter and white cheese.
